Importing a font

I have a font I wish to use in Photoshop on a picture. I am on a Mac. The font resides in the Library Folder under Fonts. How can I take a font in that folder and import it into the Font Family in the Text Tool in Photoshop CS2?

If the font works on your computer as normal in a text document. It should also show as a selectable font in Photoshop as far as I know. Photoshop uses Truetype and Post script I believe.

Agree with Pete. If a font is in your ~/Library/Fonts folder, it should automatcally appear as a choice in the font drop down menu in Photoshop . Macs can use either True Type or PostScript fonts, preferably the latter for best quality. For PostScript fonts, check in your ~/Library/Fonts folder to make sure you have BOTH the screen and print font installed (u need something that looks like a suitcase AND something with an icon on it). True Type fonts require only one for both screen & printing. Another check might be to try to use the font in another program, like Word or a page layout program (Quark, InDesign). Does the font show up there AND does it print well? If not, your font is probably corrupted and you will need to find another copy to install. U might also try using a font utility (like Font Dr. or Font Agent) to run a check on all your fonts. Hope this helps.

Many thanks!

I had to drag the font in the Fontbook to Collections and then I did a Restart and it showed up in the Photoshop font menu.

You shouldn't have to restart the computer, but you may have to restart PhotoShop, because it registers all available fonts as it launches.
