Bonehead question-what did I do?

I have done something in PhotoShop 7, that I do not understand and cannot seem to change. Whenever I go to the eraser tool, I get what looks like an outline of some text. How do I get rid of this? I have tried pasting on a new layer, but that doesn’t work. Any ideas on what I did and how to get rid of it?

Outine of text in your brush or in your image? As you erase or before you erase?

If it is the shape of the brush you might have accidently changed the brush. If not, you might have erase to history checked in the tools options ...

Thanks

Roger,
It looks like it was a brush pattern. I did the erase, and now it seems back to normal.
Thanks,
