Color Photo turns Blaack and White

I am sizeing a few pictures for a friend. We will make a collage of them soon. She sent them to me via the e-mail and the files are huge, all of them are in color. However when I open this one up in either photoshop or psp it comes up b&w. Can someone help with this and tell me what might be going on please. I can not post the full image , it is of a little boy who is right now fighting leukemia. We are having a fund raiser for the family and making a photo collage for the event!! This is the only one out of the twelve pictures that does this. Thanks Neb

I can't find anything wrong with the chunk you posted. Can you e-mail me the entire picture as it was sent to you? (my e-mail is listed below) I'll take a closer look at it.

No Color

As far as I can tell, there is no real color in that photo snippet you posted. I guess you need to go back to the source and try again.

The red and blue channels are identical, the green slightly lighter, which gives it the duotone effect. It's hard to imagine that happening by accident or flaw. A full desaturation, or conversion of a b/w image to RGB would result in three identical channels. Perhaps it started out as a duotone and was converted to RGB.
