Help? Wacom Loosing Pressure!

This is a bit of a long shot but here's my dilemma...

I've recently bought a mac and am using this wonderful piece of free software called TabletMagic which enables my old serial Wacom GD tablet to be seen by the mac. In the tablet settings pressure is working fine, just like it used to on my old PC, but in Photoshop (using CS), i'd say 6 in every 10 lines drawn will not register the pressure, and resort to full. This is completely random and obviously a little frustrating to say the least, but I did have the same problem a few years back on my windows version of CS.

I've looked on the net and the same problem is sometimes fixed by getting the latest wacom driver.. which i cannot as its not "officially" supported on OSX.

Can anyone out there shed any light? the tablet is fine but pretty much useless for me without reliable pressure sensitivity.

Anyone who can fix this will be officially hailed as the new king (or queen).
