Cursor change from brush size to cross (precise)

This happens to me every now and then. The painting cursor in PS would suddenly change from brush size to a cross. Result, I couldn't figure out if brush size is too large for the area I'm fixing.

The painting cursor setting in Display&Cursor preferences is still set at "brush size."

Closing PS and running it again won't correct the problem, but if I reboot the system, the painting cursor would turn back to brush size again.

Is there another way of fixing this problem without rebooting the system? Thanks.

Re: Cursor change from brush size to cross (precise)

This is weird. After opening this thread, I went back to working in PS and voila! The painting cursor is in brush size again. First time it happened without me rebooting the system.

Anyway, I still need help on this because it happens from time to time.

If like me you are going to want to kick yourself when you know the answer ! !
Check your caps lock key ( it toggles between the two )

Caps Lock toggles between Precise (cross hairs) and Actual brush size. There is no need to reboot your system. Just press Caps Lock and it will revert back immediately.

Glad this has been resolved with caps locks. But, just for fun, give this a romp:
Stupid Mistakes and Foibles
Might be a nugget in there that saves you some hair.

Stroker, you just saved me from another embarassing moment. I was about to create a thread for Stupid Mistake # 2: Color Picker.

Thanks.
