Argh:CS3 Masks

I just upgraded to CS3 from CS1 and have a quick question that I am hoping someone can help me with. Using CS1 I could hold down my "alt" button and click the little box with the circle in it on the "layers" tool box and a mask would appear on the current layer. Using the white brush tool I could paint away that layer exposing the layer beneath. I could then switch the brush tool to black and bring back what the white brush took away.

Now with CS3 after creating the mask I can use the white brush to expose the lower layer, but when I change to the black brush nothing happens. The black brush no longer causes the lower layer to reappear.

Any pointers???

Thanks guys.

The white brush exposes the image on the current layer not the underlying layer.

I had no problems with the masking tools in the CS3 Beta.

Re: Argh:CS3 Masks

I got my colors mixed up in the description of the problem, but the idea is the same.
