| | | How to ... Hard to explain (has to do with actions - CS2) (Edited to describe better from what I've learned from the people below) -
I need the "stamp Visible" effect to change when the layers below it, that the stamp was created from, are changed.
THANK YOU!

Make a blank layer above the layers you are working on keep this layer active, hold down the Alt and click on the fly out menue, click on merge visible,or linked layers. I hope this helps.

I was playing with it, and the merge visible on the blank layer gave me the acumulation of the layers below (not taking into account the opacity levels but the fill levels were saved) but it did not change based on adjustinig the layers below. I hope that makes sense.
Any other ideas? or am I doing something wrong???
Thanks again.

| | | Re: How to ... Hard to explain (has to do with actions - CS2) Thank you for that suggestion. I was wrong and it doesn't work like I need it to. It is the same as merge visible while holding down alt.
I need the merge visible layer, that will change as the layers under it are changed. I am so very hoping that something like this exists!
Thank you both again!

| | | Re: How to ... Hard to explain (has to do with actions - CS2) Nevermind, that isn't working like I thought it was, I thought it changed with the layers under it changed, but it doesn't. I had the top layer on screen on accident which is why I thought it worked.
That is the same as the merge visible with the alt key pressed.
Thank you again! Anymore ideas?

| | | Re: How to ... Hard to explain (has to do with actions - CS2) You can only do this with smartobjects, and even then it will only show the layers contained in it, not the ones below it. However, you can have umpteen copies of the smartobject and if you change one they'll all change to match. |

| | | Re: How to ... Hard to explain (has to do with actions - CS2) I've been looking up and playing with smart objects tonight, but I don't think I understand it.
When I use smart objects it turns the multiple layers into one layer. And I can't adjust the layers contained within. When I try it rastizes the smart object.
I'm sorry for being a pain. Thank you for taking the time to explain these things to me! |

| | | Re: How to ... Hard to explain (has to do with actions - CS2) Ahhh!!! Thank you, it was confusing me. I guess I'm slow sometimes. I hope they add an option for the adustable stamp-visible soon. I bet I'm not the only one that would find this helpful.
Thank you again. |

I'm not sure if this is what you want. Put your stamp visible layer below your adj. layers.

Hi,
Thank you for the suggestions, but that isn't what I was going for. I was kind of hoping that no matter what I'd do I'd be able to use it as an adjustment layer of sorts. Where it is applied to in various amounts to layers below it, but it changes when things below it change. But I wanted to be able to do that with more than they have available in adjustment layers.
I wish I could describe things better. |
