I downloaded the latest Photoshop demo file. Adobe says it expires after 30 days.

Does that mean it curls up and dies, or just that I can't save any work after 30 days?

The reason I'm asking is that I'd like to use it and Richard Lynch's book on layers to learn more about layers, then see what I can apply in Photoshop Elements. I'm not ready to buy Photoshop . . . and may never be.

The demos usually work on a clock/calendar principal or may phone home to check the install date and calculate the 30 days from the install date. For the most part the demos just quit working after the 30 days and you will get a notice that you have past the 30 day demo limit when you try to launch it.

That said, there are rumors rife on the net that Adobe will be discontinuing support and development of Adobe Elements. It seems they might be going to a web based application (similar to Google Piccata) on a subscription basis. My preference is to own the software and not have to pay out a monthly or annual subscription fee in order to use a program. Many software developers want to move in this direction so they can possibly eliminate piracy and guarantee continuous income once they have you hooked.
