Unhappy Problem>REndering>lighting Effects> lines ?

Good afternoon!

I want to thank you in advance for any assistance, as i haven't find anywhere in the web my problems solution.

The last week, everything where moving normal, on my Windows XP and photoshopCS2. (any more infos required for mys ystem please ask me, i am not a, pc master).

Problem:

While i open a "new" document and "paint bucket tool" i click on "filter" "render" "lighting effects" and click ok to a default lighting effect. Thsi was reproducing the effect perfect until 4 days now...

Now i receive the lighting effect with horizontal lines from the top of the image until the bottom. The number of the lines increase or decreases depending by the option adjustments i do in lighting effects box.[/U]

It is like a disease theres no cure. I am desperate.

p.s. the lines have the colour of the lighten area.

The first thing I would try is to reset the preferences:

Dear Juergen,

thank you. I did this both A: and A2: with no success.

I have tried that before i post the problem also. and retried it now, cause hope dies last.

i ahve also totally unistalled photoshop7(the problem occured here first, the first moment i was using it correct and the second i ahd this problem) and reinstalled photoshop cs2. The problem still persist. It iccured to me that maybe its my graphic card? a Nvidia Geforce 9500? I have no idea.

Re: Problem>REndering>lighting Effects> lines ?

I would not think it's the software. It seems hardware related, probably a setting in the graphic card. Most cards have a menu that allows many, many adjustments. The problem is finding the culprit. Fortunately, they also have a button for "reset to defaults".

Thinking out loud.... since you are not seeing the problems in all applications it is not the monitor, not the operating system (XP), not other applications. So, it is either Photoshop or the graphic card. Since it does not do this in other app's, it is not a graphic card failure, but a setting the the GC that conflicts with PS.

Find a way to reset the GC to factory defaults. Look under Control Panel>Display>Settings>Advanced>tab for your card... then there may be another button to actually enter the menu. If you can't do that, another cheap fix would be to temporarily install another GC.

Newbie Re: Problem>REndering>lighting Effects> lines ?

Dear Tommy,

Thank you very much! Most probably this is the problem as when i setupped it with another graphic card the problem was solved and when back with the NVIDIA GeForce 9500 GT the problem was alive again...

Somehow I cannot find the settings to solve it even if i try the factory the problem still exists!

i am happy that u gave me the suggestion to change GC! At least i now know whom the problem is!

p.s. thank you all for your time!

Big kiss
