Saving tool presets

I hope someone can help.
How do I save a single tool preset (not a brush by itself, I can do that okay), I keep trying and it saves a file that is about 20+ mb's, that seems quite large for a single brush preset.
I know where to save to and I think I'm doing it right, but I'm missing something???????

Yes all of them!

In "Manage Presets", open the applicable preset (brushes, patterns etc.), select the brushes you want to save as a set, then save the set. You can save a single brush or a series of brushes.

if they were made from images, that would explain why the preset is so large...

Swampy you got it thanks. Though I still had to think about it, I was missing stuff, and was saving all Presets to one file hence the large size, now my single brush preset is 5k. Quite a difference.
