Technical background info PSCS3
What I am missing - and looking for - is the technical background.
You can use a gradient map to enhance your B&W photo's. But how does it works? What does it - technically spoken - do?
If one knows the way it works under the hood, you can apply the best technique for the choosen photo. Without that it is often trial and error.
My question is not only for 'gradient map' but for all the tools and 'bells' of PSCS3
Are there any weblinks with that info, books?
Re: Technical background info PSCS3
There is almost always a desciption of what the tool does in the User Manual of the Photoshop version you are using. If that description is not technical enough for you, you can almost always find a more comprehensive technical description by doing a Google search using words like " How does a Gradient Map work". The 1st hit comes back with a comprehensive tutorial such as this link:
Or search using the word "tutorial" followed by the subject of interest.
When it comes to a program as widely used as Photoshop, there it is almost certain that you can find what you are looking for.
