Crop query

Hello All,

Another dumbo question I'm afraid.

I used the elliptical selection tool to crop a person out of a photo.

Now I'm left with an image which has about 2 cm. of white background to the right of my main image that I no longer need.

I know I could re-crop the image again, but how would I re-size the image/canvas or whatever to exclude this part of the canvas. I really need to shift the image size to the left to obscure the white background area.

I have included the photo.

Thanks in advance.

Manfred

Re: Crop query

Image >>> canvas size and expand your canvas. Then recrop to what ever you want.

This will not make the family bigger, just the canvas. Paint with white or copy the other side if needed.

Hope it helps,
-Keven

Re: Crop query

Thanks Keven.

But don't I want to actually reduce my canvas size so that it shrinks out the useless stuff on the right of the picture?

Re: Crop query

I am a little lost on what you actually asking here...

The fist picture was kept in same crop but picture was centered.

The second was just a square crop.

Going in the right direction?

Re: Crop query

I think what you are asking how to do is what Keven illustrated in his first example.. keeping the same image size but moving the subject to the center so it can go back into the same size frame... Right?..

If so .. AFTER you clean up the original (get rid if those knees!).. just copy the people and paste them back in..
Put a new White layer under the newly pasted copy people layer..
Select the top layer again and move them where you want them...

If not then AFTER you clean up the original (get rid if those knees!).. make a new document the size you want it.... copy the people and paste them into the new document.. use Free Transform tool to size and position the newly pasted people into the new document
