Cropping question

When I am trying to crop a picture, I want to be able to crop the image with an adjustable size that I can chose myself using my mouse and cursor, almost like enlarging it in a free style way if that makes any sense. However the cropping options drop down box only gives me certain preselected size options for cropping and often these just don’t work for me.

So my question is:

Is there any way to get the cropping tool to be adjustable to any size that I want?

Re: Cropping question

Also Buddha and Oiram,
I don't know what version you are running but right around CS2 a lot of users including myself began to find a glitch in the crop tool. For example if you punch in a set size like 8"x10" and crop, then want to change the crop size say to just 10-inches on the long end and leave the other blank...........Sometimes PS won't forget the number you cleared from the empty box and still constrains the crop to that size. To clear this you have to punch another number into the empty box, drag the tool then cancel the crop. Now clear the box you want to be empty again and it should go on from there. I have found no other way around this. Maybe someone else can help.

Re: Cropping question

Why not just select the crop tool then click on clear and leave the size boxes blank. Then drag the cropping tool across the image to the proportion you want. Don't forget to go to the "VIEW" menu and pull down to "RULERS" and then you'll be able to follow the small "tick marks" at the sides of the rulers to see what size you are dragging the cropping tool to.
