Photoshop Cs2 Preferences

I would like to know how come I had to use the CTR+ALT+SHIFT preference keys a lot even when I had used photoshop in a short time. Eg. I had used the brush, clone, and healing brush, and all of sudden they doesn't anymore. Is there a way that I can set up Photoshop Cs2 to use a lot longer instead of using the preference keys all the time? It is a pain in the neck to restart photoshop so often. Thanks.

Gerald, when you have everything the way you want it to be, go to the Window Menu and Window>Workspace>Save Workspace to save your workspace. Then if Photoshop preferences get corrupted and you are forced to do the ALT+SHIFT+CTRL you can just go to the Window>Workspace and load your saved workspace and you will be right back in business.
Here is another suggestion for you to avoid the problem in the first place. Before you shut down your computer, first close Photoshop, then do a shut down. I recall a problem with CS2 where shutting down the computer stopped Photoshop before it had time to save the preference file and it was always getting corrupted.
