eyedropper picks up background colour

Hi all
I hope someone can help me with this - it's very confusing and I can't figure out how to fix it. Someone else used my machine recently and now my eyedropper tool selects a colour and sets it as the background colour rather than the foreground colour. It is really annoying and inconvenient and I really want to change it back but I don't know how.

Go to Window>Color and click on the top (frgd) box.

i don't understand
Window > Color opens the Color window, not the active colour for foreground or background. I also don't know what you mean by: "top (frgd) box."

Hi Karin -

If all else fails, you could reset your preferences. Also, CS4 and I assume older versions allow you to save your workspace preferences. Once you get it like you want it, save it under workspace preferences.

weshoot, out of interest, this does not seem to be related to my workspace preferences - I have got one saved, but using default workspace still picked up to the background colour swatch, until I reset the focus ring.

Me thinks this is the same as Lonks link.... Frgd = Foreground
