Filter Problem in Photoshop CS5 Hi: I just downloaded the free trial version of Photoshop CS5. I've been using Photoshop for about a decade and was excited to test the latest version. It may be my computer, but I'm experiencing a problem with the filters in CS5: The preview of the image you see when using filters does not properly represent the final effect of the filter; once you click "OK," some of the filter's effects disappear. The linked image shows what I mean: http://www.screencast.com/users/mash...4-cfc89ce4888d The original image is at top. After selecting a Radius of 1 and a Threshold of 3, the image looked like the the one in the middle. However, when I clicked "OK," some of the noise returned. I've had the same problem with other images. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue in CS5? Thanks. mashny Last edited by mashny; 05-02-2010 at 01:28 AM.

Re: Filter Problem in Photoshop CS5 using the full version of cs5 and i have no issues, thats gotta suck man maybe reinstall? their is nothing i can think of in windows that would be a setting or restriction for that. if you have it working for the trial on mac i guess that leaves the trial point out no reason for it to be a video or display issue, considering it shows up on the preview. bottom line, if any filters work in another full version photoshop you have, it has to be a CS5 installation issue. keep us updated.

Re: Filter Problem in Photoshop CS5 Thanks for the responses. I'll try a reinstall and see what happens. I did notice that though the preview in the actual picture is inaccurate, the relatively small preview box in the actual filter window IS accurate. If I have to, I'll go by that, but I'll try a reinstall and see what happens.

Re: Filter Problem in Photoshop CS5 The lighting filter did not get upgraded to 64bit. To use it on the Mac you need to right click on Photoshop CS5 > Select Get Info and check the box for 32bit mode. Those of you who see it without any problem have computers that don't support 64bit, so you see all the 32bit filters.

Re: Filter Problem in Photoshop CS5 I would not rule out the graphics card. With openGL a lot of what you see on your screen is processed by you card first. Once you commit, the software processes it and it may be different.
