Re: Cant save image as JPEG in Photoshop Thanks. Yes, the picture was in 16bit mode. I thought Photoshop should change it (from 16bit to 8bit) automatically when saving in JPEG. I have the feeling i worked with 16bit images before and I didnt have to change anything (when saving to JPEG in PS) till now. Strange.

Re: Cant save image as JPEG in Photoshop Photoshop CS5 has the capability to convert images to 8Bit before saving as a JPEG, versions before CS5 didn't do that.

Re: Cant save image as JPEG in Photoshop No program, including PS, is able to save in legacy jpg format in 16 bit. The jpg standard has never been able to support 16 bit or layers. Regards, Murray

Re: Cant save image as JPEG in Photoshop I know JPEG is not 16bit. I just thought PS can do the change from 16bit to 8bit automatically (as ACR). I have PS CS4. I have to upgrade to CS5

Re: Cant save image as JPEG in Photoshop The sense of control when you do this things automatically is weak. What happen to your colors your shadows and highlight, when you do your conversion? You have to open the JPG afterwards to check. And do it again if it's wrong. Better if you convert and check your histograms before you save (can be "actionned" anyway). Just my thoughts.

Re: Cant save image as JPEG in Photoshop Hi You can change the Camera Raw default to 8 bit by clicking on the Info link at the bottom of the ACR window - should sort out your problem. See screenshot: http://www.secalis.co.uk/Files/ScreenShot002.jpg Brian

Re: Cant save image as JPEG in Photoshop I thought its better to work in 16bit and then convert it to 8bit image, but yeah, when I save the image then as JPEG, it seems to look little bit different.
