Darken bright light in background

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me lower the brightness between the 2 people in this picture? And please let me know the steps to do this. Thanks

the window area is so overexposed that the detail is blown out & unrecoverable.....you could drop a new background in the window area and tone down the flare around the couple with the highlight slider in shadow/highlight or do some burning with the burn tool.

Welcome to RetouchPRO Hope you enjoy your stay here and make lots of friends.

I just grabbed some trees from the internet and stuck them in the window on a masked layer... did some hue/saturation adjustments on another layer to even the bright skin tones.. a curves layer.. sharpened some then some noise removal using Imagenomic noiseware

what editing software are you using?
