can't save a jpeg on a MAC!
I am running PS 5 on a Mac, Sierra 10.12.6. Until a few days ago, I had no problems, but now, I can't save a file as a jpeg. I get the dialog box COULD NOT COMPLETE YOUR REQUEST BECAUSE OF A PROGRAM ERROR.
I have uninstalled and re-installed and checked all my settings. Nothing has changed.

Any suggestions? I also have PS3, and ELEMENTS, and they both seem to be working fine.

I really want to use PS5

20 years old PS? May be you should update to something modern.

What do you suggest? It was working perfectly fine last week. PS3 that is older is still working with no problem, but I want to stay with PS5. I also have Elements 9, and it is also working properly. Something has caused a 'clitch' in PS5, and I would like to fix it. There must be a way!

If you have not it so far, reset Photoshop Preferences. Sometimes the Preferences file gets corrupted and a reset will fix those problems. Not sure that will fix your problem yet it is a good place to start. (CMD-Option-Shift on startup Photoshop)

Hope that helps

Are you using Photoshop CS5? There is a big difference between PS5 and PS CS5. Honestly I'm shocked if PS5 is running on macOS Sierra.

--shift studio.

Yes, I am using CS5. Not sure how to reset the preferences. Is there a default setting?

I googled my problem and found this....To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut: Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.Aug 3, 2017

so far it seems to be working! Keeping fingers crossed!
