Layer prep. for USM

For those that are interested in reading about yet another way to sharpen images in Photoshop, I have recently uploaded a small article to my website.

http://members.ozemail.com.au/~binaryfx/ST_USM1.html

This does not go into sharpening as such, but a suggestion for preparing a layer for USM that I like.

More on sharpening in general can be found here:

Hope this helps,

Stephen Marsh.

Hello Steven,

How about telling us about the "hiraloam" method. An alt for the high pass method.

This is not something that I have explored too much, John - but it sounds a bit like using one of my DoM or DoG actions with the larger standard deviation values so that larger halos are produced, or just using a very large radius and very small amout in USM or High Pass etc.

I have not used the DoM or DoG for that purpose.....I have to remember that............ I was thinking more of using the high radius(7-15) and low amount....(starting at 500. Then lowering), after setting the radius and threshold.
