Can actions be edited using the notepad?
When opening .atn files in the notepad they are full of spaces and strange symbols.

AFAIK - ATN files can only be edited inside Photoshop (that is if you still want them to work as an action).

By holding down all the key modifiers and choosing save action, you can export out the action steps as text - but you can't turn it back into an action.

The simple act of opening and resaving an earlier action in a later version of Photoshop will make the ATN useless for the older version.
