Problem applying text to an image in 7 & CS

I have a psd file in RGB, 8 bit and am having a real problem with applying text.
The text box is on the screen and even when I make the font size 1200 pts it is microscopic or basically not even there. I've opened another photo in the same mode and color bit in both CS and 7 and there is no problem. This tells me there is something I'm overlooking with the image itself.
I opened another image and it displayed as (RGB/8 ) while the photo I am having trouble with displayed as (RGB/8#).
What is with the # sign?

Anyone have a suggestion?

What's the resolution? Could be it's at something like 1200 dpi and 1"x1" so even 72 pt type would be only 1/16" high. Seems obvious but that's just the sort of thing I overlook.

DOH!
Resolution is right. How the hell did 1 pixel per inch get in there?
