P-shop 7.0 problem

[font=Tahoma]Hello, i am a new member to this site and i have a question. When i start 7.0 i get the following message "this application has failed to start because NEFLibrary3DS.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem." I have reinstalled the application and i still get the message. The message appears in a separate window when i click OK the app continues to load. Any help on this.
Thanks, Hank

Have you tried reinstalling it a second time ?

You may find this will help.

Yes, re-installed twice. No difference.

If you google photoshop NEF, it appears NEF is associated with a Nikon plugin of some kind. Looks like Photoshop is looking for a file and it's either physically missing or is in the wrong place.

So...
a) Do you have a Nikon plugin?
b) If so, would it be possible to uninstall/reinstall it?

This is probably to do with the Nikon camera raw import plugin. NEF is the default file type for Nikon raw files. If you have Photoshop CS I would suggest you do not use this plugin - it offers very few options compared to the CS raw import filters.

Did You Uninstall first?

When you did the re-installs did you uninstall first? Try going into the program files folder after the uninstall and before the re-install and see if there is a photoshop folder under the adobe folder. If so then delete that folder and then run the install. Sometimes the folders have info in them that doesn't get overwritten in a reinstall because they are additional files added from installing something like a Nikon Camera. So the file with the launch info for the Nikon Plugin still exists and continues to try to launch the NEF plugin.

Make sure you ditch the Prefs file too; I don't think it gets deleted even when you uninstall. Mine is located here (Windows XP, PS7):

C:Documents and SettingschipApplication DataAdobePhotoshop7.0Adobe Photoshop 7.0 SettingsAdobe Photoshop 7.0 Prefs.Paint Shop Pro

You can just rename it if you want. When you start Photoshop up it will create the new prefs file automagically.

If you have a different setup you can find out where your prefs fiile is on the Adobe website.
