detect landscape or portrait image Hi all, First post! Hope someone can help. I have a folder of many images. I would like to batch process the folder. To each image i want to detect if its a landscape or portrait image then add a logo to the image depending on the orientation. I know i can separate out the images in the folder but that will take more time which i am trying to save!! thanks Andy

Re: detect landscape or portrait image If you have Adobe Bridge, there is a filter for Orientation. You can select a folder of images then filter for landscape or portrait. Select the images and move or copy to a new folder.

Re: detect landscape or portrait image Thanks Swampy, I do have bridge and i think i have it sorted now! Just learned something new in photoshop too! The "place" command allows me to add my logo in the same spot on every image - given the images orientation. cool! So i have 2 actions, one for each orientation, i then filter - in bridge- according to orientation and batch the lot! Thanks - that helps with the work flow a lot!

I mainly use Paint Shop Pro (from Jasc) for my rudimentary image manipulation stuff (resizing, add text, etc). I need a quick/easy way to separate these portrait/landscapes into two different folders so I can run a batch processes and resize them all. It's a real pain to separate them all individually. Is there a non-Adobe approach I can take? Thanx in advance for your help. This seems like a friendly/helpful forum. -Sean |

Re: detect landscape or portrait image Sean, Welcome to RetouchPro! Explore and Enjoy! Bridge comes with the Adobe CS line of products. It is a visual filing system for many different kinds of files (JPEG.PDF.IND.ILL/EPS movies, sounds etc.) It has many features to save out or convert files, and integrates with the Adobe Creative Suite programs. Sorry you don't have it. :-( It's a great utility for making contact sheets and web galleries too.

Re: detect landscape or portrait image Thanx, Swampy, but like I say, I really don't do enough with image files that I need to go out and spend a few hundred dollars on Adobe. If anyone knows of a non-Adobe solution, please give a shout. -Sean
