Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Chris Tarantino REBROADCAST

I got interrupted by my kid during what for me was one of the most interesting parts. Can someone explain the steps Chris did in using selective color to make a saturation mask? At least I think that's what was going on...

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Chris Tarantino REBROADCAST

worked like a charm.....after disabling my firewall, that is... I wish that one could test the settings on a test setup, if connection and sound would work. Anyhow I had no problem hearing Chris - the echo has already been discussed -. Enjoyed the session a lot - and learned something new. Thanks guys and keep them coming

Please do it again - and flexible timing would be really great.

Just a great learning tool if you are flexible enough to accept the pre warnings and the time differential. And my gosh! For $10 bucks! Get a grip complaining people! I've never been to a 2 hour workhop of gurus for $10. Have you? You want perfection? To suit your every need? That's good. Pay $100+ but I'm outta here and happy to take this alternative for all its minor faults. Great community-sharing job, Doug. I'm happy, uncomplaining, and in for whatever you have to offer.

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Chris Tarantino REBROADCAST

Flashtones ... as far as I could make out it was a saturation mask for overly sat areas & made from selective col AL w/col channel settings of blk-100 & wht/neutrals/blks blk+100 , then saved as alpha channel , then mask used w/huesat AL & desat -78 to even out saturation ...

something I haven't figured out is the curves format ... even though Chris was working in RGB the curves seemed to be reversed , eg his strong dodging of original highlites came from a strong dakening curve as normally perceived but obviously gave a lightening effect , so where his curves in reverse format? & was this the case with the curves in the contrast set w/lumin masks aswell?

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Chris Tarantino REBROADCAST

his curves histogram were reversed, I noticed that too!

I really enjoyed watching this rebroadcast... unfortunately I also missed some interesting pointsin this presentation, Is there any sort of a recap? a written one with a bit more info on Custom Filters, Luminosity masks and what not? That would be a great idea!

Anyways, I am curious as to how he got his luminosity mask out of the channel pallete, that part I simply lost myself... thanks

markc78, thanks. I think I get it. So none of the color sliders were changed, just the black?

I think he had his curves reversed to mimic working in CMYK, but I was confused a couple of times too.

Pretty sure he just used the composite channel by cmd/ctrl clicking it to make a selection before creating an adj layer.

I guess so.... he then reverses it, right? before bumping that curve layer up!
