Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Gry Garness Feedback

To the both of you, thank you very much.

Loved the demonstration, loved the comments. Audio and picture (full-screen on a 21inch wide panel) performed 100%.

For me, I can’t think anything to improve. Hope to see more on this time (7.00 pm in the Netherlands).

Well done indeed!.

btw, I would love to see more presentations from her!

WOWOWOW

Its worth much more than $10. I really hope that people will go and buy the book after this. I have the previous books bundle and just wanted to see Gry walking through her steps. She has such a sexy voice Very pleasant to listen to.

If she is willing, I really would love to hear her teach again, more on colour corrections as well. How many people do we need to sign up for her to speak again?

I wish we could have see the Neutral Grey Dodge and Burn, she does have it in the book, but would be nice to see relating to this case. I guess can't get all for $10

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Gry Garness Feedback

Totally agree re shamrock's comment on the broadcast time.. I often have to miss things like this because they end up being at 2am UK time. So this was perfect .

Great going Gry and Doug !
I have Gry's books, they are great imho, well worth the price & I really enjoyed seeing her 'at work' live and hearing explanations. Colour channels and curves are something I particularly find tricky to get my head around and so it was very helpful to actually see Gry doing this
Thank you both very much.

More please : )

Yes, the lagging was very bad at time. I just gave up on visuals at some stage and was trying to listen in. At least she is quite good with naming "thingies" by their names

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Gry Garness Feedback

This retouch class gave me a more in depth understanding of details although I had a bit of trouble following the workflow (just me I'm sure). The event was well scripted and well executed. The teaching style was personable and professional at the same time--easy to relate to. All-in-all it was a very useful class. The lag was actually a blessing in that it allowed me to keep up while writing notes instead of always playing catch up.

Thank you. Thank you.

Sorry, but hundreds of questions get asked, and I have to sort through them if I can and ask those that help the most people. Usually, if we're under the allotted time I can go back and ask some of the questions I had to skip. We were over a bit today, so I wasn't able to do that.

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Gry Garness Feedback

Terrific, thank you Gry. A very talented professional. I have read some of your ebooks and also some by Dan Margulis who you refered to for certain techniques. Time was to short with such a big topic. It would be good to cover each section a little slower and the put it all together later.

Looking forward to futher sessions.

Thank you again.

I signed up and payed the PayPal fee and was never notified to register even after sending Doug an email on Friday as a reminder no registration email was sent to me.

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Gry Garness Feedback

This was a great event, and being a UK resident, often in London, I'm seriously thinking of taking up some of Gry's 1:1 training.

Best event yet

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Gry Garness Feedback

Ken, the registration happens differently than in the first LIVE offering. Now after paying with payPal, be sure to click that button that I think says 'return to merchant'. If you click it you will be sent to the 'registration' page. So it is one process now (pay then immediately register). It isn't obvious to do this, at least I didn't think it was. Maybe it was explained somewhere and I just missed it but I felt like i kind of luckily stumbled on it for the 2nd session I signed up to attend. For the first session I just closed the paypay page since I already had a retouchPro page open. For the 2nd one when I clicked that button I just was trying some different navigation for grins, glad I did :-)

I loved the session and while there was some lag for the screen, it was tolerable. It helped when Doug pointed it out so she could slow down and wait for us to catch up. All of the LIVE broadcasts have been terrific and I hope to see them continue. So far I have been fortunate enough to attend each one. Once I rejoin the workforce full time that may end but for now, I'm in!

Thanks much,

Doreen

Damn! I thought the cost was $10.00 but it ended up being $60.00 after I bought $50.00 worth of her books. Was impressed.

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Gry Garness Feedback

My first...finally...Sat is a great time and for me it was 1 p.m. in the afternoon which was good as well. So much information and it was hard for me to grasp it all...thus telling me how much I still have to learn...especially use of channels and masks. Any repeats on the others you recently offered?

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Gry Garness Feedback

Sign me up for the rebroadcast (actually I know I'll have to do that when it's available), but that was a lot of information to cover and I know I didn't get everything out of it that I could have, so I'll definitely be attending this one again. Also saw I missed one on masking that was held on Wednesday... never got that announcement. Guess that's another one I'll be attending the rebroadcast for. Gry is amazing. I'm wanting to get her book too, but will have to wait until I have a little more cash. Thanks for these webinars and for keeping them affordable for working people like me!

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Gry Garness Feedback

Doug...pls stagger rebroadcasts a numerous times so we have a chance to participate if the first time is inconvienent or find a depository site that stores the presentation that payers have access to. In fact, I would like to see Gay's again...I just couldn't take notes fast enough. thanks

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Gry Garness Feedback

Overall very good. I'd like to see more sessions with Gry. Having read her Retouching e-book was definitely a help which I'd recommend to others. My only nitpick is that I wish the info at the beginning had been more abbreviated. I appreciated seeing her custom pallet, but didn't need as much step-by-step in creating one when what I wanted to see was retouching. Otherwise, a great presentation, and well worth the $10!!!

It would be great if the recordings of all these events could eventually be made available "on-demand". I know there are events I've missed which I'd like to see, and I suspect some people would like to see a presentation more than once.

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Gry Garness Feedback

It was great to see how Gry work. This was a very good complement to Gry's book I just bought. Thanks for making this happen! I'll definitely
catch her next one! (And I'll make sure to use Safari and not Firefox to watch it.)

I did find the commentary distracting - I'm used to having the presenter go through their entire presentation without interruption and then take all questions at the end. It's hard to hold the questions until the end, but this keeps things on track and nothing gets left out because of lack of time.

Also, as others have said, it would be great if the session could be recorded and made available "on demand".

Thanks again and can't wait for Gry's next event! :-)

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Gry Garness Feedback

Gry has put up a page for the Configurator panel she demonstrated. She's also uploaded it to Adobe Exchange, but says it might take a couple of days to actually show up there.

Here's the link to Gry's page
Here's the link to the Adobe Exchange page

Remember that Photoshop CS4 is needed to run the panel. And also, this panel is more to show what Configurator can do, rather than to be of actual production use.

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Gry Garness Feedback

This was a quality broadcast, and I'll invest in her books soon. One thing I'm confused on though is how to determine what values the eyes should be, right at the start, using curves. I'm not really sure what to be looking for here, and how to work out what values to change the rgb channels in the curves layer to. Could anyone PM me this information? It's the only thing I can't get my head around. Cheers!

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Gry Garness Feedback

this is what I captured:
put a sampler in the black pupil and one in the white of the eyes.
kids white is more blue
teenagers neutral
as we age more red than green
old people more yellow

for the woman she gave 216/209/203 for the whites
50/49/50 for the pupil

someone explain the reason for her shift to 233...that is where I got lost....

Loved the presentation, very well done, will be looking forward to more webinars on these subjects. Would like to have her reference sections of her CS4 book that covered the areas that she was talking in.
Excellent job, keep up the good work.

She first color corrected the whole image based on the eye colors. Then she decided a slightly brighter image (or eye white, I'm not sure if this affected the whole image). So, first a color correction, then a brightness boost. This is the reason you saw a jump in the numbers.

The only chapter that talks about skin and only chapter usable in the very outdated book by Lee Varis 'Skin' talks about the correct numbers for skin, but I think on the Internet you get more (and better) information, and of course a chapter in the highly recommended book by Gry Garness.

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE - Gry Garness Feedback

Thanks Doug -- Appreciate Gry's sharing & you putting it together for us. Just discovered you guys about a week ago after purchasing Gry's CS3 eBook (yes, I haven't yet moved on to CS4). Decided to join up here after viewing. Loved the rebroadcast and the detailed techniques she covered. The broadcast itself cut out only once for a couple minutes near the beginning, but was perfect after that.
