Of course, but not for awhile. Watch the email list for dates.

Re: RP LIVE - "Jewelry Retouch" (rebroadcast)

This was a great show even for a foreign spoken language like me, and i really want to thank you and Steve for the useful information you have shared with us.....
Just a little suggestion... it would be great if anyone who subscribed to the webinar will receive a link where we can download a full PSD file with all the layers of the picture presented.

This would help me a lot in remember and retrace all the steps which was explained so well on the web.
P.S.
I'm really looking forward for the next "watch" live show

tucumcary-
Many thanks to you, and all the members that posted here, for your very gracious comments.
I can't speak for other presenters, but I get really possessive about my layered files. Maybe there's a low res/watermarked solution, but for now I can't release files that may have copyright protection.
You mentioned a "Watch" show. I'm starting to think about a subject for the next presentation. If people would be interested, I could show a watch retouch.

Great!!!
A low res/watermarked version would be wonderful to keep in touch with the past lesson
Thanks

Hi Steve
I enjoyed your show the other night, thank you.
Is ink density ever an issue for you when converting to cmyk for print?

Re: RP LIVE - "Jewelry Retouch" (rebroadcast)

Karin-
Ink density is absolutely an issue. The profiles I showed will limit ink on the RGB to CMYK "on the fly"- GraCol to 320, SWOP3 and SWOP5to 300.
In fact, if you have a very high Dmax CMYK file that you want to lower, convert it to a wide gamut RGB (NOT sRGB!), then convert it to a good CMYK profile. Works great.
If you're building a file in CMYK though, keep an eye on density as you work.

Hi Steve
thanks for your response.
What would you do if the printer requests another cmylk profile?
Would you use one of your own and then apply the appropriate one later?
btw, what is Dmax?

Re: RP LIVE - "Jewelry Retouch" (rebroadcast)

Karin-
In a perfect world, the printer has profiled his presses, knows he's printing the job that you're working on, has reached out to you and provided his custom profile. I used to work for a leading printing company that did that, and I hope that still happens!
I forgot to point out in my earlier response that if you "flip" the files as I said, you won't have black only shadows anymore, but it works in all other cases.
Dmax is maximum ink density (total ink). You'll see strict requirements by publications to keep the density below their particular chosen numbers. Commercial printers are more tolerant, but they sure won't accept 400% blacks.
