I enjoy hosting all the RetouchPRO LIVE shows, but professional illustrator Steve Caplin's shows are a special treat for me. His wit and charm make even the most technical discussions quite fun. Plus his incredibly deep knowledge of Photoshop and his lightning-fast mind and execution mean all I have to do is occasionally tap on the brakes, to let the audience catch up and absorb the flood of excellent tips and techniques.

"Ever since Apple started reflecting its products in an imagined shiny floor, this has become the default way to show off products of all kinds, from jewelry to cameras, from books to cars. But while some reflections are trivial - it's often simply a matter of clipping a copy vertically - objects photographed at an angle, or complex shapes, can be a very different matter.

This webinar will go through a variety of reflection techniques, from the straightforward to the complex, showing often surprising ways in which seemingly difficult reflections can be accomplished with ease."

Great show as always. I do learn so much, and every now and then feel quite pleased when I think I probably could figure out a fix all by myself. i.e. - re the bottle reflection - I have always had an issue with this and have sat looking at bottle and glass reflections for ages. If it were me (and really who am I...) I would have duplicated the white "lights" narrowed them over the original and increased the opacity. Looking at any reflection on a shiny surface it amazes me at how bright the core or center of the reflection actually is.
Just an observation.
Such a Steve Caplin fan!! And by the way Doug - re your "thought everyone would be at work." What work? Sadly a whole lot of us out there don't have any to go to.

Very good show. I often have to do complicated reflections and it was good to see how someone else tackles it.

After watching I decided to dig up an image of a computer sitting on a glass desk that I worked on. (This is a crop of the original image prior to retouching and yes, some of us are at work). As you can see, the under surface of the computer screen and neck of the screen reflect. I'm not sure without a reference you could actually fake a convincing reflection.
