RP LIVE "Impish" w/Chris Tarantino (rebroadcast)
Chris Tarantino is not one to take the easy route. His most recent shows have provided significant and valuable knowledge, but have also required scaling some pretty steep learning curves. So when I invited him to relax with a straightforward beauty retouch he agreed, then submitted this image that required the following fixes:

Acne scars, shiny skin, ragged hairline, unruly eyebrows, neck folds, and a tattoo...all this on top of needing his famous skin technique. And, as if that wasn't enough, we get his inside story of dealing with a unique and demanding client.

So, on the next RetouchPRO LIVE rebroadcast, watch professional beauty retoucher Chris Tarantino tackle what many of us would consider the job from hell, but he considers a relaxing change of pace.

I really enjoyed the show. Great work by Chris. The only thing that was a bit frustrating was that i didn`t quite get how he reduced hue with the selective color adjustment layer. Was it in red, yellow cyan, magenta and green you pulled the black all the way to +100% and in the white and black you took black to -100%. How did he make the mask from this to use in det hue/saturation layer? I appreciate i someone could enlighten me:)
Looking forward to the next show

Re: RP LIVE "Impish" w/Chris Tarantino (rebroadcas
Amusing watching the rebroadcast. Questions kept popping up in my mind for clarification, and almost always someone asked in the live show.

I know it's obviously not feasible to broadcast an entire 6+ hour D&B retouch but the only real shortfall for me was the slight lack of feeling of process. As I say without covering pretty much every little blemish in a real time basis it's nion impossible to achieve, but I think it was perhaps condensed a little too much. The two D&B layers were obviously a huge part of the retouch that I felt perhaps needed a little more attention.

Eitherway, Doug, good job on moderating the show :). A very good job noticing what needed further clarification for viewers that 'in the moment' of retouching is all too easy to just assume everyone knows.

You have the sliders mixed up. All of the colors get the -100 and the neutrals get the +100. Once the selective adjustment layer is made with those settings you command click on your composite channel in the channels panel and then save your selection if you want to save it. Otherwise, with the selection still active create a Hue/Sat layer and reduce your saturation to your liking.

Hope that that helped.
