RetouchPRO LIVE "3D Compositing" w/Scott Valentine

Could there be a facet of Photoshop that's more intimidating and seemingly unapproachable than its new 3D functionality? All those numbers and weird terminologies seem somehow foreign to the land of pixels and adjustments.

But our newest presenter Scott Valentine says it doesn't have to be that way. On our next RetouchPRO LIVE show, Scott will ease our travel to the land of meshes and lightsources.

Watch live via your web browser as Scott performs two composites using imported 3D models to incorporate new objects and backgrounds into 2D photographs (click the link to see the images Scott will make and the 3D objects he'll use). He'll explain what he's doing and why as he works, and (of course) he'll answer audience questions along the way.

Scott will be using Photoshop CS5 Extended, but many of the techniques he'll demonstrate can also be done with CS4 Extended.

Great insight into the possibilities of 3d in photoshop. I'm a little frazzled by it but it has given me the incentive to go and play in 3d. I would say you probably could of done a show on just one of the images as I got a little lost and would like to have seen more time spent on the basics but as I said a great overall insight. Thanks.

I have to say that I like Scott's style of delivery and really enjoyed the whole show... But in fairness to scott my knowledge of 3D is clicking the 3D menu item and saying,, ok, ok, ok , back to what I know but his skills gave me the impetus to learn more...

Hi there folks - glad to have had an opportunity to show you some of the charm of 3D!

I would love to get more in depth about specific areas, so if you have suggestions or questions, let's hear 'em. There are far more subtle and obvious uses for 3D depending on your own field or interests. For example, one thing I mentioned during the presentation was previsualization for photoshoots.
