Re: International rentals test

Are you no longer going to do the youtube ones? I am in USA, and the new quality is great, but I am confused about where to rent and when the others will change for this.

Re: International rentals test

For the time being I will continue to update the YouTube rentals. I'm still hoping they'll end their beta and open up international renting.

Re: International rentals test

Andrea from Italy.
I was able to see the video.
Going forward and backwar in to the video sometimes "buffering" appears and all is locked...I've to reload the page.
In the last part of the video (at 133:40--->) the audio has some "echo" in the voice.
I hope soon we'll be able to see more videos.
Bye

Re: International rentals test

Hi Doug

I have just watched the preview (from New Zealand). Full screen HD.
It stopped and started a few times, but that was not really problematic.
Quality was pretty good..... the close details and clarity were fine.
From what I have seen so far, this seems like a great option for the rentals, assuming the full 2 hour show runs as per the preview.
There are a number of shows I have been keen to see, but missed them due to work commitments / timing. I look forward to hopefully be able to rent them in future.

Re: International rentals test

Have been watching from Kibbutz Kabri, Israel. Have had no problems
watching at all, except for a period during the middle: had switched to
HD viewing (it really does make a difference, especially if you want to
read text on the screen) - the audio continued to arrive just fine, but
the video did not update. Very similar to glitches that sometimes occur
during live shows, where the audio is fine, but you can't see the presenter's
cursor move. It took me about 10 minutes to realize this was happening,
because have had this happen so often during live shows, that thought it
was a problem of the Webinar software keeping up in real-time. The
solution was simple: just stopped the playback, restarted, and changed
the resolution to Standard, instead of HD.

Which reminds me of something else REALLY REALLY IMORTANT for us
non-US viewers: FINALLY, FINALLY we can see reruns when it is convenient
for us, and also rewind and view again and again. THIS IS EXTREMELY
IMPORTANT for non-native English speakers and people like myself who do
not use Photoshop. It's not easy trying to figure out exactly what a
presenter is doing if you're viewing it at 2 am in the morning, in a foreign
language, and trying to translate Photoshop use to another program
(I use Paint Shop Pro.)

I have no idea what the ratio is for US/non-US viewers, but my guess
is that you have at least as many outside the USA as inside. The time-zone
and language problems can be pretty serious, and this new option of being
able to view at our convenience is absolutely terrific.
