RetouchPRO LIVE "Ask Chris Cox"
In nearly every RetouchPRO LIVE show we show how artists use Photoshop. Each has their own methods and theories about how Photoshop works. But it's rare to have the opportunity to learn about Photoshop from someone who could be considered a final authority, such as one of its principal authors.

Chris Cox is a Senior Engineer at Adobe responsible for Photoshop. He wrote or optimized many of the features you use everyday. On his first RetouchPRO LIVE show he was a great sport, answering questions ranging from the most basic to the most advanced with equal consideration. He shared some interesting behind-the-scenes stories, and cleared up a lot of misunderstandings. That show is up on the rental page if you're interested.

On our next all-new RetouchPRO LIVE, Chris returns to answer your further questions about Photoshop. How it works, why it works the way it does (or sometimes doesn't), it's quirks and oddities, and any other questions you can think of about Photoshop. No question will be considered too basic or too advanced. And we'll be watching Chris's full-rez screen, so he can show as well as tell.

Saturday, August 6, 4pm CDT (see link below for other time zones)

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE "Ask Chris Cox"
I just finished "rehearsal" with Chris, he's got some fascinating things to talk about. But we're really counting on your questions to steer the majority of the show.

It might be helpful to type out your questions ahead of time so you can copy and paste them into the questions panel.

Re: RetouchPRO LIVE "Ask Chris Cox"
This show is now available for rental.

Just a few of the topics discussed include:
  • How the content-aware tools work
  • The difference in the Sharpen filters
  • How the Reduce Noise filter works, and how it differs from ACR/Lightroom noise reduction
  • How bugs get fixed
  • Working with 32 and 64 bit versions
  • Debunking some Photoshop myths (and confirming one)
  • What OpenGL and OpenCL do
  • False color and astrophotography
  • LUT vs. Matrix (don't worry, I didn't know what they were, either)
  • Plus he finally settles the Mac/PC wars (at least as far as Photoshop is concerned), and many other topics.

All times are GMT -6. The time now is 02:13 PM.
