Re: Can we see a Pro Live video on Color Grading? When it's free of copyright I can't see why not...it must be suited for the effect to get those beautiful color tones to the top notch ads like GUESS, VERSACE, PRADA, and so on

Re: Can we see a Pro Live video on Color Grading? Several definitions, some contradicting, most far too overreaching. I need an unambiguous one-sentence description that everyone can agree on that also differentiates it from simply changing color temp or balance or applying a gradmap or colorfill/overlay or any of the other bazillion color methods that are out there. Something like "predictably altering the color palette of multiple images to match one single, perhaps radically different, color palette"? That's how I'm understanding this so far, forgive me if I've misunderstood. Does this go beyond the "Matrix green look" of the 90s or the "orange and teal" look of the 00s? See examples #5 and #4 here. Last edited by Doug Nelson; 05-06-2012 at 04:47 PM.

Re: Can we see a Pro Live video on Color Grading? I have a suggestion call it "The Look" like they do in most retouching studios.

Cross Processing is an old film term for much of what I’m seeing in terms of examples. As pointed out, CS6 has a new tool (LUTs), much of what is used in these film examples now. At least on the Mac, you can kind of build simple LUTs using the ColorSync utility. There are several 3rd party plug-in’s as well that produce cross processing-like effects (Alien Skin Exposure, PhotoKit Color II). |

Re: Can we see a Pro Live video on Color Grading? Thanks Nancy....looks like Holland... So I now we need an unambiguous one-sentence description that everyone can agree on that also differentiates it from simply changing color temp or balance or applying a gradmap or colorfill/overlay or any of the other bazillion color methods that are out there to repeat Doug's post...and then we can get started.
