Image editing in the movies

...and the only evidence they have is a surveillance video still shot from 100 yards away showing a blurry license plate. By pressing a couple of buttons, the technician is able to make the plate number clearly snap into focus

Am I the only one that gets irritated when scenes like this happen in the movies? Or is there some software out there I'm not aware of?

One of my favorite shows is CSI but I have seen them zoom in on a tiny image reflected of someones glasses in a photo and get the details of a road sign and I had the same thought. Not likely in this life time. Is that something like poetic license only photogenic license?

My favorite miscue in the imaging department was in Jurassic Park where they showed all the computers that were controlling the park - they zoomed in to show that the computers were Apples, but then when they showed the screenshots, the screens were all Windoze!

Hey, now there's having a sharp eye. I've seen that movie several times and never caught that one.
