I really don't want them to make a movie of any of the books I enjoy. They rarely do them justice, and always alter the storyline, never for the better. As proof of this, just look at the abortion they made of Lord of the Rings (and that received critical acclaim).

I really enjoyed the book.."Bonfire of the vanities" and never thought it a comedy until the movie..
"atlas shrugged" might have made a good movie.

ah gary, i see you're one of the purists

i enjoyed the movies.

i always wanted to see the Foundation trilogy by asimov done in a movie. same with Stranger in a Strange Land by Heinlein. but i was somewhat aghast at how badly I, Robot got hacked in its recent movie form. and Starship Troopers was unrecognizable.

and if the Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan ever gets finished, that would make one whale of a cinematic tale.

House Of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski

It's written as a film and is just waiting to be filmed.. It could go really wrong in many ways as there are a lot of different layers and a lot of different personal views in the story, but if it works it would be a great movie.

Oh, that's what it's written as. That explains everything. I was okay with it for a while there but finally gave up when I had to start turning the book in different directions to read it.

This could be one of the rare occasions when the film version is an improvement.

Hehe, yeah i get your point and have to agree i felt pretty stupid reading it at times. The story was quite good when i finally got into it, but it would have been much better had it been a good 100 pages shorter, so a movie version could do it good.
