Need Help creating Montage

Well I've enclosed sort of a reproduction. Its a screen shot of a montage showing how multiple layers can be used to build a picture. The bottom layer was made using a beige fill + the texturizer filter. The frame layer I made by using the selection marquis and stroking the selection with a yellow color and using a bevel and emboss layer blending mode.

Can i also suggest looking at Flora's tutorial understanding layer masks ( in the tutorial section) you will see the relevance towards the end of the tutorial
