Thanks for another great tutorial.
Because I’m not much of a painter I’ve devised a method to use in conjunction with yours using the gradient tool,
For example. To create a highlight.
Create a new blank layer – Bend mode Overlay
Set foreground colour to white
Now draw a foreground to transparent radial gradient onto the blank layer where you want a highlight and then reduce the layer opacity to 5-20%
Using foreground to transparent you can add several radial gradients of various sizes and positions to one layer. And you can build up the effect using several layers.
For a shadow just change the foreground colour to black
The same method can be used on the lighten and darken layers, And a layer mask can always be added if needed.
It’s a great way to make the blends more natural and better still it cuts down on the painting.
