Post Intro to Painting with Light with Photoshop 7, CS or CS2

A fairly simply technique to add "punch" to an image by enriching the colors, deepening the shadows and brightening the highlights. All done without touching the original image. [details]

frank, excellent tutorial - thanks - i've been working on a couple of images with it and they really look great.

why not enter it in the tutorial contest?

Until now, I've never really used Colour Burn and Colour Dodge (on purpose). I always stuck to my ol' faithful modes.

Seeing this technique, I have to add this trick into my bag.

Link to the action from a couple of years ago

There is also one that works great for black and white but you can combine the two.
One of the benefits of this method is you can PWL in color...i.e., use an orange on landscapes or click the skin and PWL.
The Shadow layer really helps the drama.
