Post Intro to Painting with Light with Photoshop 7, CS or CS2

A fairly simply technique to add "punch" to an image by enriching the colors, deepening the shadows and brightening the highlights. All done without touching the original image. [details]

Great Tutorial Frank!!

If this is an entry for our new Tutorial Contest, I would suggest you post a link to it in the Contest Page

Until now, I've never really used Colour Burn and Colour Dodge (on purpose). I always stuck to my ol' faithful modes.

Seeing this technique, I have to add this trick into my bag.
Thanks. Really nice effect and approach.

Link to the action from a couple of years ago

There is also one that works great for black and white but you can combine the two.
One of the benefits of this method is you can PWL in color...i.e., use an orange on landscapes or click the skin and PWL.
The Shadow layer really helps the drama.

combining the two

My friend=
You have left out some important steps to your light painting tutorial. Would you mind taking the time to review your directions. Thank you

Re: Intro to Painting with Light with Photoshop 7,

I have been trying PWL for a week now and it works sometimes but not all the times specially with people in it.
You said...look for richer colors and brighter colors...how do I determine that when a photo has people in it?
