Question Re: Swampy's Watercolor Technique - Video Tutorial(s)

Hi Swampy,

In the finished samples you used a textured 'paper', would
you mind telling what texture you used and is it a CS2 standard.

Thanks Tom

Re: Swampy's Watercolor Technique - Video Tutorial(s)

Tom, I think I used a canvas or linen texture. I don't know which version because I have both the standard Photoshop canvans/linen and 3rd party canvas/linen that I downloaded from somewhere. I've been collecting textures for years and there are tons available for free out on the net.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

BTW -- I always do a stamp merge before adding texture to my artwork. This leaves the working layers free of texture in case I want to go back and make changes.

Re: Swampy's Watercolor Technique - Video Tutorial(s)

Great, Palms! It has opacity and texture. Love the background (which is so easy to do when you use the HB.. you just don't paint much of it...LOL) You did a wonderful job with the color correction too! :-)

Just wanted to let everyone know, I've uploaded "Swampy's Watercolor Brush" that I used in my Watercolor tutorials. It's a Photoshop .abr file zipped.

Re: Swampy's Watercolor Technique - Video Tutorial

Hey, Skydog!

I use a program called SnapZ Pro for Macintosh (about $80). I understand there are a couple pretty good screen capture apps for the PC, one or two of which are free. You might try a goole search.

Re: Swampy's Watercolor Technique - Video Tutorial

Thank you, Saby :-) It is my theory that teaching "why" is more effective than teaching "how". The "whys" translate to other projects. Anybody can learn how to change a blend mode, but knowing why to change it and what the effect will be is so important. Glad you enjoyed the tutorial! Thanks for dropping a note.

Very helpful tutorials, Swampy. Thank you! I wish I could use your brush, but alas my version of PhotoShop is woefully outdated.
