Very informative and well written. On behalf of many, thanks for all your hard work crafting this.

On the next revision you might consider including a little verbiage on the use of the BW adjustment layer and why one might use it, i.e. non-destructive editing, instead going the Image > Adjust route.

Eeek, you're absolutely right. By natural habit, I always create a duplicate layer to work from. But an adjustment layer would be even better.
I'll revise that and update the tutorial.
