What a wonderful memory - I would have loved to sit in and shared those experiences ! When I first posted this thread over 10 years ago, I doubted that anyone would respond - very pleased to find others who love their music, and surprised by a number who attended their performances and those who met them and knew them!!

Sure, I remember this Poetry Album by the 3Ds, although I was wracking my brain trying to recall the name of the group, I remembered the melodies and arrangements of these poems well. I stumbled onto this forum in my search. As soon as I heard a few samples of the songs/poems I knew this album was the same one our 11th grade English teacher played for us in her poetry class, which lasted for one quarter. She often let us listen to "our" music in class in that time frame if it had poetic merit. Her constraints were pretty loose--it was a very popular class! To this day, I recall the strangest thing--after we listened to Richard Cory and were discussing it, one of the boys in the class commented that the way the singer said "How d'ye do?" made him sound like a hillbilly. LOL. Those kids didn't know *jack* about hillbillies.

LOL!! Emmylou, 11th graders can always be counted on for "different" reactions on any subject, I guess. Kudos to your teacher for using these versions of the poems to catch the students' attention - I would bet that there are some who still hear these poems in their mind with the music and sounds of the 3D's which might NOT have happened if they had simply read them in a book.
