Shopped or not

These shots a reported as real (allegedly - as i've not seen the claim in situ). Someone posted them in another forum. I'm not telling you what I think. Yet.

What do you think. (Just for a laugh)

cheers,

nacoya

ps there was some text with them ..

Apparently these shots are real. The were taken at Simpson Bay on the tiny island of St Martin which is about 100 miles east of the Virgin Islands in the Carribean. The aircraft are landing at Juliana International Airport which has a beach at the perimeter. Admittedly these two were regarded as 'low approaches'. The beach has since been closed to the public.

1st one's not even close to being believable.

The scale of the 747 is totally out with the
surrounding image. Compare the window size with those of hotel (which is much further away).

No ground shadow, plane would have cast one.

Lighting wrong.

People on beach would have been flattened by downwash of plane etc. etc.

2nd could be real, lighting looks better, slight blur on hotel windows correspondent with panning with plane to get shot. Note taken from a different and more distant viewpoint.

The second photo

That is not very believable either. The sky is too blue with too much contrast and no "haze" towards the horizon. The shadow of the airplane is somewhat out of scale and too far away from the plane and down the beach. The sun is at a higher altitude and the shadow should be more underneath the plane.

that's great guys,

My view is that the jury's still out on pic 2. It could just have been really touched up over the colours but other than that it kinna fits.
No 1. is a fake IMHO. Look at the tail and the rear vertical rudder in close up. It's chopped to bits.
There is no doubting that the place and airport exists, just those particular photo's were in question.

cheers,

I don't know. I would have to say, since there was really a spot like that, these pictures look fine to me. The choppiness could just be from the compression and/or low quality. As for the color in the other... unlike where I live, lol, there are some places where the sky is indeed that blue and beautiful. As for the shadowing on the second pic, I don't think it would be any further back unless the sun was directly above it. I can see though why people would think they look "shopped" but imho I think these pictures haven't been messed with. Still, I could be wrong but that's my opinion anyways.

Both real

I haven't looked a the web sites which were linked in this thread yet but I believe these images to both be real. It's the same background landscape. The runway tarmac can be seen in the second shot over the fence. Why would someone comp this together twice? The "windows" on the buildings in the background look more like balconies than windows. Everybody on the beach is looking at the plane in the first shot. If it wasn't a plane, what was it, a kite that caught their attention?
