What's on your Desktop?

So what do you currently have as your desktop screen (background) image?

For December, I use this one. The calendar in the bottom left came from the Adobe Studio Exchange Templates contributions.

Re: What's on your Desktop?

I used to have a custom Jennifer Connelly deal. High Pass, obviously, but there is actually quite a bit of painting in there. I eventually gave her up for grey.

:sigh:

I've got a WIP smudge I'm doing of my dog. It helps me to see errors and places I've missed.

For December, I have a Christmas portrait of my dogs, Squirt and Tater Tot.

For my screensaver, I use images from Cuteoverload.com, such as this monkey petting a kitten.

Before reading this thread (plain green)
After reading this thread (pretty pic)

A definite improvement. Thanks for the prod, Swampy!
Now I just need to get rid of all those pesky icons that are cluttering up the view.

Re: What's on your Desktop?

I'm certainly enjoying seeing the different things we put on our desktops. I change mine almost often enough to say I change it with the weather. This is currently enjoying its place of prominence on the desktop. It was a lucky shot that I've liked a lot.

Like Swampy, I love the winged ??? Ro. Did you make it?

Re: What's on your Desktop?

Well Ro, you could drag all of those pesky icons down onto the task bar (well most of em at least) One of the things I really like like about the Mac OSX GUI, it's not so 'clutterific'.

Re: What's on your Desktop?

Mine's a picture from National Geographic. I absolutely love this photograph. First time I saw it, I didn't understand the enormity of the cave until I notice the light on the right side is attached to a person...

I used to have a pretty island with Palm trees and sea but I can’t see it any more for icons.

Gary.
Where can I find that calendar (I just about have space left for that)

Great stuff everyone.

There is a way to hide your desktop icons. I am running Windows XP.

-right click on a blank spot on the desktop
-arrange icons by
-uncheck show desktop icons

They are all still there, just hidden. You can click desktop on your taskbar on the bottom of the screen and the desktop items will appear in a list.

It's a great way for you to enjoy the picture on your desktop.

Re: What's on your Desktop?

There is a similar way on a Mac.

Make a folder in your User folder (I call mine "My Apps" and have made sub-folders like Graphics, Media, Office, Utilities etc.) Put alias' of your applications or documents inside that folder then add the folder to the far right side of your dock (beyond the very thin separator line)

Hi Ken,

http://www.ipi.fi/~rainy/download/Ra...Lite-2.0.1.exe

It's Rainlendar, the lite version (linked above) is free. It can be customised by adding new skins.

Ro,

Try creating pop-up folders on your taskbar, that's where I keep all my icons.

That's cool, Gary! I've added quickstarts for programs in my taskbar, but hadn't thought of folders -- neat!

Re: What's on your Desktop?

You're welcome CJ.

I've got so much junk on my box that you wouldn't be able to see the screen if I left the icons there, so I keep them categorised in folders on my toolbar.

Occasionally I keep things in the right category as well.
