jezebel.com "unretouched" contest

Gossip blog jezebel.com recently ran a "contest" offering $10,000 for a full-rez unretouched photo used on a major magazine cover. Evidently, several people risked their jobs (not necessarily the retouchers, in fact probably not) and submitted entries. One was chosen.

There are several other posts discussing this image, and the ramifications. But their site is loading very slow (plus it has some rough language) so I'll let you explore the remainder on your own, if you want.

Re: jezebel.com "unretouched" contest

very interesting....when i was working at TCC back in the late 80's we would do the covers for vanity fair, allure, and vogue and i don't ever remember that much retouching done to celebs...either the photography has gotten worse or the budget for retouching has been increased quite a bit...

Re: jezebel.com "unretouched" contest

Everything I hate about "retouching" is in that picture.

They've taken a naturally beautiful woman and turned her into some kind of plastic doll, some might like that, but surprisingly some like "pageant" photos as well.

Unfortunately while idiots keep buying into that stuff, they'll keep creating it, more's the pity.

Don't know what I found most offensive, the final picture, or the comments of the self opinionated halfwit in the notated picture in the article. Obviously a blow up doll would be his woman of choice.
