Hello from your newest member

Greetings everyone! This is a truly amazing site, and Doug you should be proud of it. I come to you as a middle-aged, life transitioning, ex-photolab manager. I have been working with Photoshop since version 4, mostly on my own nature photography, which can be seen here: http://www.timfleming.com

When I thought of what I enjoyed most about running the photolab, it was scanning and restoration. Then, a job opened up locally for a digital retoucher and a light bulb went on. Actually, it was more like a lightning bolt. So here I am.

I didn't get the job, so obviously I need to work on my portfolio and get advice from folks who are doing it successfully. Thanks to all of you in advance, and I hope to contribute as well.

Best Regards,
Tim

Holy smoke, Tim...

It's been a long time since I've seen such killer nature photography. And your scanned floral creations are simply exceptional.

Glad (a) the lighting bolt struck and (b) that you found us. It's a privilege to have someone with your skills and experience join us.

Welcome aboard...

Loved the site, the images just jump up at you, I don't normally look at many floral images but these are very pleasing. Great stuff.

I loved your scanned flowers!! Very well done!!

Here is a strange question: what do you use to clean your scanner glass?

It is almost inevitable that some "crud" will stay behind after you remove the flowers....

Thank you all for your kind words! Frank, I use a special glass cleaner, ammonia free, it's made by "Sprayway," and usually found in a framer's supply house. Then I use a soft, lint-less cloth or "Pec-Pad" to do the actual cleaning. Both can be found in a photo supply store. Of course, even with cleaning, there is still some RETOUCHING to do! OH JOY!
