| | | Re: lkroll hope you are ok Sorry; hardly ever check the Salon (never thought to, but Craig got me focuesed). Yes, we had some minor damage; just a few houses down from us lost their entire home (many have in our neighborhood). We have (or should have said had) a lot of old growth (over 30 year) trees in our yard and believe the trees (though now no longer) managed to divert the Cat 3 tornado from our home. Anyway, very much appreciate your concerns. All utilities (including Cable modem; yea) are now up and running. I didn't even think we would have electricity until Friday (tomorrow) after all was over on Sunday, but we actually had power the next day (Alabama Power deserves my hands in applause). My prayers are definitely with the many folk without a home, but as far as I know currently, no one was seriously injured (better news; no one killed). My dad is very sad that the trees he planted over 30 to 35 years ago are now no longer, but trees can be planted again, and homes can be repaired/rebuilt. Lives are the precious things and thank God for good neighbors who helped us out especially. |

| | | Re: lkroll hope you are ok Welcome back, Lyle. Glad you and yours are okay. I know what you mean about the trees, I lost so many in the hurricanes of 2004. Some were around 100 feet tall. I've planted some new ones, but with the drought they're not doing too well and I don't have irrigation to them and they are too far from the house to hand water sigh. |
