I have webspace, and I did some work on a site, but I never actually got anywhere even close to finishing it.. I've kind of forgotten about it in the last couple weeks, this just reminded me about it. - David

Yes and it's listed here but mostly it's become a reference for business generated from the local Yellow Pages more than a source of online business. DJ

I clicked on answer 4 in the poll which does not exactly fit my situation. I authored and maintain a website dedicated to locating individuals who served in the Army unit to which I was attached during the Korean war. I do not have a personal or business website. If I ever hone my skills to the point where I figure someone might pay for them, I'll reconsider. That may be a long time in coming.

JB: I meant any website, so it doesn't really matter if it's business-related or not. My best friend runs HeavyBombers, which you might find of interest (locating USAAF members from WWII).

Not so much a website as a parking area for odd snaps. Used as a link prior to the gallery facility.

I voted "Yes, but it's a secret" - which isn't exactly my situation. Like Chris, my website is pretty much a parking lot for old photos right now. Since I refused to pay yahoo for the "privilege" of POPping my e-mail, I quickly found a webhost for my e-mail using a domain name which I registered six months ago, but I haven't yet had time to put up a website for my business. I've got a lot of ideas - just haven't had time to put them all together yet. Jeanie

I voted "it's a secret" also, but I used to have a website on AOL that I put up years ago and never finished. It contains some personal photography of Arizona landscape and wildlife. Still have the pages, but haven't set up my new space with my new cable provider. I've helped do some work on the website for our wildlife rehabilitation group, but now it's handled by someone else. I believe that a good website focuses on someone's passionate interests, and I'm not yet well enough focused to create a good website.

Yes, I have a website and it is posted. I started it, and continue to maintain it, for the following reasons: 1) A place where our scattered relatives across the country can view pictures of their grandson. I got really tired of making reprints for 4 sets of grandparents. 2) A place for me to post pictures and my graphic art projects that I enjoy doing as a hobby. 3) It serves as a place to post pictures for forums that do not allow for uploading of pics. 4) To claim my fair share of cyberspace I really need to tweek some of it and remove portions of it that I just have not maintained or started and never really completed. I have a lot of respect for moderators of websites such as this, because there is definitely a time factor involved in keeping things running smoothly. If you care to indulge here is the link. http://home.attbi.com/~cendres3 Carl

website I've been working on a website for a couple of weeks now, and it is almost ready to publish. I'm using websites by verisign, and it's not too hard to set up, but there are limitations. They offer reasonably priced build-your-own site packages. I'm hoping it will generate business - it should be interesting to find out. My website should be live next week at: www.ccdesktop.com As an aside..there are a couple of Retouch Pro images I've restored that I would like to use in my gallery of samples. Do I need to ask permission from those who submitted the photos to display them? (I also have another site on-line - not related to photos..at: www.ukexpatconnection.com It's a guide for Americans planning to move to the UK. I co-wrote it with two women I met while living in England for a year. I did the design, took the photographs for the book, and created the interactive CD. It's been on the web for about a year. Take a peek!) Barbara Kessling/ ccdesktop

My website is non-business:non-professional (obvious) At my age it's a hobby and it keeps me involved with learning. I meet a lot of nice folks and have fun with interacting in a few forums.... I'm not html savvy at all. Built this site using homestead Site Builder More of ego thing as something I accomplished I guess. Site gets hardly any traffic . tom c http://expectinu.homestead.com/draft.html

I don't have it listed because I didn't think it would be appropriate for a photo-retouching forum. It's a little site I threw together and forgot about 5 years ago. It's nothing special but it's all about a special little person. It's just me noodling around with web site creation. http://home.hiwaay.net/~robrackn/

| I have a website and it is mentioned in my profile. It started when I needed a place to post my avatar for a forum (it needed to be linked to an outside source) I chose Geocities which is a free webhosting site of Yahoo, then after learning how to make a site template with Fireworks and Dreamweaver decided to create a site in that space, I do not consider it completed as have to finish the Spanish version, add links and more images. I consider it my pet project. http://www.geocities.com/marthig04 I added a new site at another webhosting service (free too) If you care visiting it please be kind in your appraisal Regards - Martha Last edited by Marthig; 10-08-2005 at 06:32 PM. | i voted yes, but it's a secret also, but mostly because i havent done anything with it for a year or so. it's only one page and just a few pics up. it's also borrowed space from a friend so i dont like to put a lot there and use up his bandwidth. i also use it for remote linking pics to other sites. the url is: http://www.mizus.com/kraellin/ Craig |

My site isn't as much restoration related but there are quite a few images up there. It is a mixture of code I have learned and some free software. I am always messing around with it. A better hobby than sitting in the pub that's for sure!

justchecking, hehe, i hear ya it's an odd thing to me... well, sort of odd, that you (you, as in anyone) post a piece and you'll get 40 views but no one will comment. i ran into this a ways back on another site. i'd post something, come back the next day expecting comments and get nothing, yet 50 folks had viewed whatever it was i had posted. on the other hand, i dont respond to every post i read or every image i look at either, so, there ya go. but one can get the feeling that no one sees you and carried even further, that you must not exist because no one sees you or communicates to you, and that therefore you're not there. that may sound extreme, but it happens. at any rate, i've seen your work. i like it. i just recently saw your piece in the mini-challenges area, the wine and roses piece, and liked it a lot. it's how i was thinking that piece shld be...i might have added a candle, but the lighting was already there. but, yours was good, so, i didnt do my own if a picture equals a thousand words, then we're talking a communication here. something is being said. the trick is getting anyone to listen and respond Craig

about the replies - i guess that many people don't wanna "just reply" w/o posting any creation of theirs, not to get away from the graphics-orientation of threads... and of course, often people are like "there's so many of us, why should i be the one to respond?"... Quote:
and for the wine and roses piece, feel free to take it and modify it, if you like the style of it... it's not that that has to be the final product Quote:

I did the Yahoo/GeoCity thing too! In fact twice... all linked together (for the space) http://www.geocities.com/fatoletrucker/ a mixed bag there... all Family photos I've restored or cleaned up. some nearing 100 years old.. some later day morphed photos mostly of kids.. to view those click on "Sanford Folks", Other than that my ISP allows me a site that I built pages on several times but so far nothing that's brought in a dime. Building them was interesting enough though. Below is one of the morphed pix,

Thanks Martha ! I enjoyed yours also.. so a jet fast computer eh? I built mine last fall and know what you mean about the increased speed. I named mine "Big Blue" as it has a huge blue case and IBM used to be called that on the stock exchange (i think). bye RonDon

I've maintain websites all over the place.... Just kidding.. I have three sites. One is my personal web space for posting family pics and QuickTime Slide shows of reunions, birthdays etc. I maintain webspace for our Highlands Seminole Club (Florida State University Alumni), and a sadly neglected business site with an old portfolio of graphic designs that I have done through the years. All are accessable through the portal address: http://www.deedeespage.com

Hi Smileyguy ! Lovely baby in your main page ! The site itself has a very neat outlay and is easy to navigate. Only one comment, I noticed it is made with a CSS template and in my browser IE6 SP2(1024x768) monitor 15" the pages align at the end (bottom) of the navigation buttons. I had a go at a css template in DW 8 and had that issue too, finally by trial and many errors discovered that my problem was the size % assigned to the main space and that of the navigation buttons. Hope this makes sense. Regards - Martha

Wow! Thanks for your kind words and the bit of advice about the alignment. I will check into that. In all honesty, I did use a template-based web design app called "rapidweaver" for macs. It works like a charm, is easy to navigate, set up, publish, change etc. etc. BUT... it doesn't present the same way in IE as it does in all the other browsers. Go figure. My hope for this website was to get something that looked decent and had all the information that I wanted to present so that I could go ahead and publicize my business via email and print ads. While this itteration is up and running I will be learning either html or one of the more advanced web design apps in order to get a website that is more "mine" than a template-based one. Thanks again for checking it out.
