More venting.

At first, I just blew it off when I heard about Reid's statement about the "smell of tourist", but the more I hear it on the news, the more, upon deep reflection, want to blast the b@$t@rd for what he said. The arrogance alone should be enough to kick him out of the Senate IMO. Why do we put up with the likes of this guy I sure don't know. Sorry for my vent, but this is just getting too much. Man I hope he runs for president one day. I'll put this one in is face along with his defeatist remarks concerning our troops earlier this year and roll him up in the dung where this guy belongs. Personally, I think Congress stinks so much that I do not even have a desire to visit the Captital (never had, and now, never will).

Again, I apolize for my vent, but it does prevent me from doing worse.

Re: More venting.

I couldn't agree more, Lyle. I was waiting for him to close that little speech with "Let them eat cake". There is so much graft and corruption and arrogance on the Hill. Public servants? Hah

Re: More venting.

not sure who Reid is or what he said... i quit watching 'the news' years ago and NEVER subscribe to newspapers, but i do know that you're right about the Hill being corrupt. i mean, come on, Nixon, Clinton, Bush as president? the 'ruling class' is so far removed from the middle class on down, that there is little hope we'll continue 'the great experiment' without some major changes.

Re: More venting.

I guess I'm a news junky Craig. Usually, I'm watching FNC while retouching (get both my hobbies going: thinking in parallel: lol). Maybe ignorance truly is bliss Craig; politics really do stink. Look what's happening in Illinois right now. Also the various bailouts which I'm completely dumbfounded about. Crazy stuff for sure.

Re: More venting.

For anyone who missed it, here is the quote:

"In the summertime, because of the high humidity and how hot it gets here, you could literally smell the tourists coming into the Capitol."

Seems like a very thoughtless insensitve statement, but I hardly think it's worthy of kicking him out of the senate over it.

"but I hardly think it's worthy of kicking him out of the senate over it."

Only if it is used as his justification for building this overbudge boondoggle. LOL

Re: More venting.

His problem is he doesn't think of the consequences when he speaks. It's not a one thing then kick him out situation even though I did say that. It's a continuance of his arrogance. It's getting quite ugly in D.C. and I just wish there were more independents running. The only Democrat I have some respect for is Lieberman and he had to go independent since his own party tried to eject him out of office.

As a side note, I do feel sorry for Barrack. Bush (and he's no conservative) really screwed things up. If anybody got us close to being a communistic society, he sure did buying up the banks and about to do the same with the Auto industry. Just un-American for our government to get involved this intimately with private sector affairs. Some may argue that we need to preserve our way of life by bailing out these bums, but my argument is that this would destroy our Republic if it continues to go on like this (yes, more venting). As bad as the last Depression was, car manufacterers did go out of business too, but others took their place. I'm no evolutionist, but sometimes only the fit will survive. We've survived a lot of Recessions (and yes, we were all in one for more longer then people realize. I would say we were in one since 9/11 and the government covered a lot of things up until it couldn't do so anymore) and a few Depressions too. We will go on again if the heads just realize that they can't control everything and let things pass. They can control the social programs such as welfare and other personal financial assistance (as well as project works programs like the Civilian Conservation Corps [CCC] which my Grandpa benefitted from) programs which will help during this time. Another "New Deal" as I've heard recently for sure. Maybe a tad too much on the socialism side, but for short spouts, it is required (that's what distinguishes a Republic from a Democracy; we do help those in need to help themselves but not to go too far). Hopefully Barrack can get things right now that he is (well soon will be) the President, but he still has people like Reid to deal with. Not quoting exactly, but Huckaby said it best; this will be the first election in which the winner of the Presidency will request a re-count. lol

Re: More venting.

If arrogance was an excuse for kicking people out, there wouldn't be any politicians left in Washington.
