Unhappy Scratches on monitor..?

My mother today thought it would be a great idea to clean my crt monitor with her new anti-static wetwipes! Consequently the surface area is covered with minute little swirls of scratches everywhere making life very difficult, does anybody know of a product or way i can remove / polish them out?
Anything that doesn't involve buying a new one!
regards,
Gary...

Re: Scratches on monitor..?

Are those scratches or streaks that look like scratches?

I don't see how anti-static wetwipes would scratch the glass on a CRT.

Nope i went over it with a damp cloth, definitely the minutest of scratches, but lots of them in swirls, may be she's just not telling me she used a scourer....

Re: Scratches on monitor..?

Many CRT's also have an anti-glare coating, which is what may be scratched. If so, proceed with caution. If not, there are some products which will "fill" very minor scratches temporarily. I cannot think of their name, nor did I Google them. Many are promoted for eye glass lenses, as those get scratched often enough. I have tried them many years ago with very nice results.

Best of luck !

Re: Scratches on monitor..?

Aha!
now that makes sense as the areas where the scratches are is much lighter than the unscratched parts so it is the anti-glare layer, i'll google it to try find a rememedy although i'm not optimistic...

Gary
