It's time to make a post and become an official member of the community.
I've been playing around with photo retouching for a number of years, using Photoshop Elements. A load of fun but limited. Well, I was laid off last summer and my husband suggested that do what I enjoy, and start a business from home -- scanning and restoring people's slides and photos. Did a little research and thought it was a great idea.
So, here I am... I've escaped from my little cube in Dilbertville. I'm finally doing what I love and hoping to eventually get paid for it.
I've purchased all the hardware and software and have been working my little tush off for the last 8 months. Figured out right off the bat that the full version of Photoshop was considerably more difficult (and more rewarding) than Elements. Thought I could just slide from one program to the other. Hah!
My first order (unpaid) was scanning and restoring 2,300 slides for a family member - most about 40 years old. Learned a ton about workflow and improved my retouching skills tremendously. It was worth every unpaid hour. I improved so much that I went back and reworked about half of the slides.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to being a part of the Retouch community and hope, eventually to get to "know" many of you.
